Bulk carrier struck by projectile in Hormuz, crew casualty reported

A bulk carrier was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to a late report received by the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incident was reported to UKMTO by a third party and occurred on August 15 at around 2200 UTC. The impact caused damage to the starboard side of the vessel and resulted in a crew casualty. 

There was no reported environmental impact, and authorities are investigating the incident.

UKMTO has advised vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz with caution and report any suspicious activity.

UKMTO also received a report on Tuesday that a vessel was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting outbound in the Strait of Hormuz, causing engine room
