Public Power Corp. (PPC), Greece’s leading power utility, has agreed to acquire the Polish and Hungarian subsidiaries of Germany’s ABO Energy, adding a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 2 gigawatts (GW) as it accelerates, according to a press release, an expansion across central and southeast Europe.

The transaction includes the acquisition of ABO Energy Polska and ABO Energy Hungary, together with 29 special purpose vehicles (SPVs) holding 99 megawatts (MW) of solar projects either operating or nearing completion, along with more than 2 GW of solar, wind and battery storage projects at various stages of development.

PPC said the agreement also brings two established local development platforms and their experienced teams into the group, strengthening its ability to originate, permit, build and operate renewable energy projects in both countries.

The deal follows PPC’s recent entry into the Hungarian market through the acquisition of a 57.5-MW solar park and its expansion in Poland through the purchase of a 277.3-MW renewables portfolio. Together, the transactions form part of the company’s 2026-2030 strategic plan, which calls for further
