Athena Bitcoin Fails to Dodge Most of ATM Source Code Theft Case
Athena Bitcoin Inc. failed to escape most of AML Software Inc.'s claims that it stole computer source code used in Bitcoin ATMs.
Six of the eight total claims AML brought survived Athena’s motion to dismiss, including copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty, Judge Rodolfo A. Ruiz II of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled Tuesday.
Ruiz, however, dismissed conversion claims regarding the AML software and against Ryan Pineo, AML’s former president and primary code developer who was accused of orchestrating the code theft regarding license payments.
