ONE expands cargo receiving date pricing to Europe and Africa
ONE Container

Ocean Network Express (ONE) will extend its Cargo Receiving Date application to all export shipments originating from Europe and Africa from 1 September 2026.

Under the new process, the carrier will calculate freight rates according to the date on which it receives the cargo. This replaces the current method based on the vessel’s proforma estimated departure date.

ONE said the change will provide greater rate certainty and reduce the effect of vessel schedule changes on shipping costs.

The Cargo Receiving Date will apply to basic ocean freight and all associated surcharges, including local charges.

How the new pricing method will work

For Container Yard shipments, the physical gate-in date at the origin terminal or inland depot will determine the applicable rate.

For door shipments, ONE will use the date on which the laden container is collected from the factory or facility. This date will be based on the Transport Request Order.

The process matches the pricing method already used for trades regulated by the US Federal Maritime Commission.

Shipments gated in on or after 1 September 2026 will follow the new Cargo Receiving Date rule. Cargo received before that date will remain subject to the existing proforma vessel departure date method.

Countries covered by the expansion

The change applies to exports originating from the following countries:

Other trades using the Cargo Receiving Date

ONE already applies the Cargo Receiving Date method to several other markets. These include import and export shipments involving the United States, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The rule also covers imports and exports involving Canada, as well as shipments within the intra-Latin America East Coast scope. Exports from India and Pakistan are also included.

Non-FMC shipments

For non-FMC trades outside the listed markets, rates will continue to be based on the proforma departure date of the first loading vessel.

ONE will determine this date according to the vessel’s published proforma schedule.

Special rules will apply to shipments originating in Taiwan and Thailand. In these markets, ONE will use the departure date of the mother vessel rather than the initial pre-carriage vessel.

For example, a shipment moving from Keelung via Kaohsiung to Rotterdam will use the Kaohsiung departure date. A shipment from Bangkok via Laem Chabang to Rotterdam will use the Laem Chabang departure date.

ONE noted that other exceptional location rules may apply depending on local operating conditions.
