A 24-hour warning strike is underway at six German seaports, with operational disruptions expected during the industrial action.

According to Hapag-Lloyd, the strike was called by German trade union ver.di and began on the evening of 17 August 2026.

Six German ports affected

The warning strike affects the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Bremen, Wilhelmshaven, Emden and Brake.

Hapag-Lloyd said disruptions are expected at the affected ports during the strike period.

The carrier is monitoring developments with terminal operators and other operational partners.

Meanwhile, contingency measures have been introduced where necessary to limit the impact on operations.

Hapag-Lloyd said customers directly affected by operational changes will receive information through the carrier’s usual communication channels.
