DynaLiners Shares Index slips after eight weeks of gains
The DynaLiners Shares Index (DLSI) recorded a slight correction after eight consecutive weeks of gains.
The Overall index fell 53 points, or 1.9%, to 2,712. The decline came after the index reached an all-time high in the previous week.
Carrier stocks recorded the largest losses, while the Owners index continued to rise.
Carrier index falls 3.5%
The DLSI Carriers index fell by 139 points, representing a 3.5% decline.
The DLSI Ports index also moved lower. However, its decline was limited to just five points after reaching a record high in the previous week.
In contrast, DLSI Owners extended its gains. The index increased by another 20 points, or 0.5%.
Individual stocks show mixed performance
Across the companies tracked by the index, the number of rising and falling share prices was almost equal.
The average share price change was a modest 0.4% decline.
Mercantile Port & Logistics recorded the largest fall, with its shares dropping 18%.
South Korean carrier Pan Ocean followed with a 12% decline.
At the other end, German shipowner Ernst Russ gained 10%.
CIMC recorded the strongest increase, with its shares rising 12%.
The latest results mark a pause in the recent upward trend rather than a broad decline across all segments, with shipowner stocks continuing to advance.
