GXO deploys 127 robots at Netherlands logistics hub for Guess
GXO Logistics and Exotec have deployed a new automated fulfillment system at GXO’s facility in Venlo, the Netherlands.
The facility supports fashion company Guess across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The new system includes 127 robots. It can process between 40,000 and 70,000 pieces per day.
System reaches 2,200 order lines per hour
Exotec’s Skypod system includes 60,000 rack locations and eight goods-to-person picking stations.
It also features 200 metres of conveyors.
During peak periods, the system can process up to 2,200 order lines per hour.
The automation is designed to increase capacity and help GXO respond to changes in demand.
GXO targets seasonal demand
GXO manages inbound and outbound logistics for Guess at the Venlo facility.
Its operations also include quality control and garment conditioning.
Fashion logistics can involve large numbers of SKUs and significant seasonal changes in demand. GXO and Exotec designed the system to handle these fluctuations while maintaining throughput.
“The impact has been evident from day one,” said Mark Donné, Operations Manager at GXO Venlo.
He said the automation has enabled faster processing and a smoother workflow at the facility.
The system can also be scaled as GXO’s operations for Guess grow.
The companies did not disclose the investment value.
