Delo Group’s Ruscon has completed its first Northern Sea Route voyage of the current navigation season, according to DynaLiners.

A 3,700 TEU container ship called at Nansha, Taicang and Rizhao before sailing through the Arctic route to St. Petersburg.

Ruscon claimed that the voyage reduced transit time by approximately 20 days compared with the traditional routing.

More Arctic sailings planned

The operator plans to complete additional voyages through the Northern Sea Route during the current navigation window.

Ruscon joins PanStar, NewNew Shipping and Sea Legend in operating seasonal container sailings between Asia and Europe through the Arctic.

After the Northern Sea Route season ends, Ruscon will return the service to its traditional routing through the Suez Canal and Mediterranean Sea. That rotation usually includes calls at Alexandria and Istanbul.
