CMA CGM has added Puerto Antioquia in Colombia as a direct port of call on its revamped PEX2 service.

The move follows the opening of the Puerto Antioquia terminal on 31 January 2026. The facility is operated by CMA CGM subsidiary CMA Terminals.

Puerto Antioquia has been inserted immediately after Cartagena in the PEX2 rotation, providing a direct connection from Asia with only two additional transit days compared with Cartagena.

New PEX2 rotation

The revised rotation will be:

Vung Tau – Shekou – Hong Kong – Ningbo – Shanghai – Qingdao – Busan – Lazaro Cardenas – Balboa – Manzanillo, Panama – Cartagena – Turbo, Puerto Antioquia – Caucedo – Kingston

The service offers direct connections to the Dominican Republic, Panama, Jamaica, Colombia and Mexico. Further destinations are available through CMA CGM’s feeder network from Jamaica, Panama and Colombia.

The first vessel operating the new rotation will be CMA CGM Cape Cod on voyage PEX0V0E19. It is scheduled to arrive at Puerto Antioquia on 8 October 2026.

The port code for the new call is COTRB.

Priority space and inland connections

Bookings destined for Puerto Antioquia will receive priority status for space allocation, according to CMA CGM.

The carrier said the new gateway will improve access to major Colombian markets, including Medellín, Bogotá and Bucaramanga.

CMA CGM estimates that Puerto Antioquia offers a 43% shorter average distance to Medellín and Bogotá compared with other terminals in northern Colombia.

The deep-water terminal is also designed to handle agricultural exports, while imports are expected to account for 60% of its target volumes.

According to the carrier, combined ocean freight and inland solutions through Puerto Antioquia will be more competitive than services through Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta. CMA CGM also expects lower inland transportation costs compared with cargo routed through Buenaventura.
