Highlights from the Opening Ceremony of Movianto's New Wiesloch Logistics Hub

Movianto, part of Yusen Logistics, has opened a new pharmaceutical logistics hub in Wiesloch, Germany, significantly expanding its temperature-controlled storage capacity.

The facility provides around 30,000 square metres of warehouse space and 1,500 square metres of office space. It officially opened in September and is expected to become fully operational in November 2026.

Cold-storage capacity expands

The new hub adds 10,000 pallet positions for pharmaceutical products requiring temperatures between 2°C and 8°C.

It also provides deep-freeze storage at temperatures of -20°C and -26°C, while ultra-low-temperature capabilities down to -80°C are planned for a future phase. These areas are designed to support vaccines, biologics and other temperature-sensitive healthcare products.

The wider facility also includes 32,000 pallet positions for products stored between 15°C and 25°C.

Located at VGP Park Wiesloch-Walldorf, the logistics hub is close to the intersection of Germany’s A5 and A6 motorways.

“Healthcare supply chains are becoming increasingly complex, with growing demand for temperature-controlled storage, specialist handling and reliable distribution,” said Bruno Jacques, Deputy Managing Director of Yusen Logistics Europe and CEO of Yusen Logistics Healthcare.

“The opening of Wiesloch marks a major milestone in our strategy to build one of Europe’s most integrated healthcare logistics networks.”

Connection to European healthcare network

The Wiesloch facility will connect with Eurotranspharma’s dedicated healthcare distribution network, which provides specialized last-mile services across nine European countries.

The network combines pharmaceutical warehousing with temperature-controlled transport and healthcare delivery. Eurotranspharma’s fleet can simultaneously transport products within the 15°C–25°C and 2°C–8°C temperature ranges.

Movianto also plans to introduce Good Manufacturing Practice operations within the refrigerated section of the warehouse, adding specialized handling and manufacturing support for pharmaceutical customers.

The facility is expected to employ up to 180 people.

Solar installation to exceed site demand

The new hub has already achieved DGNB Gold certification, while Movianto is targeting DGNB Platinum certification.

The site includes a heat pump system, LED lighting, rainwater management infrastructure and rooftop solar panels.

Its photovoltaic installation is expected to generate around 3,100 MWh of electricity annually, exceeding the facility’s projected energy consumption.
