Worley takes pre-FEED role on Roman goddess-named Dutch North Sea CCS project
Australia’s engineering firm Worley has been tasked with carrying out the pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) work for a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project bearing the name of a Roman goddess in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, as the Netherlands’ depleted offshore fields are being transformed from oil and gas assets into underground carbon vaults.

Worley has been hired by Petrogas E&P Netherlands to deliver the pre-front-end engineering design study for the Abeona CCS project, which was named after Abeona, the Roman goddess of outward journeys and transition, derived from the Latin ‘abeo,’ meaning “to depart or go forth,” symbolizing the controlled removal of CO2 and the transition to a more sustainable society.
Jon Wilson, Operational Leadership at Worley, commented: “This award reflects our strong track record in delivering integrated solutions for carbon capture and storage as well as our experience in North Sea offshore developments. We look forward to supporting Petrogas in advancing the Abeona CCS project toward a robust and executable design.”
