Tropical Shipping revises St. Maarten charges
Tropical Shipping will revise several charges for shipments to and from St. Maarten from 13 September 2026.
The changes include the removal of two existing charges, reductions to landing charges and a General Rate Increase for cargo moving to St. Maarten.
Island Port Security Surcharge expires
Tropical Shipping will remove the Island Port Security Surcharge for cargo imported into or exported from St. Maarten.
The expiring charge is US$50 for each of the following equipment categories:
- 20-foot equipment
- 40-foot equipment
- Equipment longer than 40 feet
Container Tax Fee expires
The carrier will also remove the Container Tax Fee for all full-container-load shipments destined for St. Maarten.
The expiring fee is US$310 for 20-foot equipment and US$345 for 40-foot equipment.
Landing charges reduced
Tropical Shipping will reduce landing charges for cargo arriving in St. Maarten.
| Equipment type | Current rate | Reduction | New rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40-foot equipment | US$920 | US$120 | US$800 |
| Equipment longer than 40 feet | US$1,735 | US$135 | US$1,600 |
General Rate Increase
Tropical Shipping will introduce a General Rate Increase from all origin ports to St. Maarten.
The carrier attributed the increase to higher non-fuel operational expenses.
From 13 September 2026, the GRI will be US$480 for 20-foot equipment and US$530 for 40-foot equipment.
