Hapag-Lloyd raises Eastern Caribbean feeder charges from October
Hapag-Lloyd will adjust its Transport Additional Origin and Destination charges for shipments to and from the Eastern Caribbean Islands, citing higher third-party feeder costs.
The revised TAO and TAD charges will apply to dry and reefer containers, as well as eligible dangerous goods cargo.
The new levels take effect on 4 October 2026 for non-FMC regulated countries and 14 October 2026 for FMC regulated countries.
They will remain in place until 7 March 2027.
Charges reach US$7,700 per container
The amount varies significantly depending on the destination and equipment type.
For standard dry containers, charges range from US$2,127 to US$4,577 for a 20-foot container and from US$3,254 to US$6,554 for a 40-foot container.
Reefer charges are higher. They range from US$2,500 to US$4,950 for 20-foot reefers and from US$3,800 to US$7,700 for 40-foot reefers.
Cayman Brac carries the highest reefer charge, at US$4,950 for a 20-foot unit and US$7,700 for a 40-foot unit.
Dangerous goods charges also adjusted
Hapag-Lloyd is also changing the charges for applicable dry dangerous goods shipments.
These range from US$2,302 to US$4,752 for 20-foot containers and from US$3,604 to US$6,904 for 40-foot containers.
The carrier said the adjustment follows a recent increase in costs charged by third-party feeder operators.
TAO applies to export cargo, while TAD applies to import shipments.
Wide range of Caribbean locations covered
The revised charges cover several locations across the Eastern Caribbean and surrounding island markets.
These include ports in the Bahamas, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Dominica, Sint Maarten, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos, Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla and other islands.
Hapag-Lloyd said any further changes will be reflected in individual quotations.
