Bureau Veritas and COSCO Shipping LNG deepen cooperation on LNG fleet

Bureau Veritas (BV) and COSCO Shipping LNG Investment (CSLNG) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement focused on the development and modernization of LNG carriers.

The agreement expands an existing relationship between the two companies and will cover vessel design, technology upgrades, digital solutions and personnel training.

Partnership targets LNG fleet development

BV and CSLNG have already worked together in areas including vessel classification, project management and technical support.

Under the new agreement, the companies will establish a longer-term cooperation framework. Their work will focus on improving vessel operations and supporting the development of CSLNG’s LNG carrier fleet.

The two companies will also explore new vessel designs and technologies as the LNG shipping sector continues to develop.

Digital solutions and technology upgrades

Digitalization will form another part of the partnership, with BV and CSLNG planning to explore technology-driven solutions for LNG shipping.

The companies said these efforts will focus on improving operational performance and resilience throughout the lifecycle of LNG carriers.

Personnel training will also be included as CSLNG continues to develop its technical and operational capabilities.

“We look forward to supporting innovation, digitalization and sustainable development across the LNG shipping sector,” said Jeffrey Guo, Marine & Offshore Asia Pacific Senior Vice President, Bureau Veritas.

He added that the partnership will explore practical solutions for fleet modernization and operational performance.

The agreement does not include details of specific vessel projects, investment commitments or a timetable for deploying new technologies.
